An armed man has held his own 4 year old daughter hostage at Hamburg Airport.
Hamburg Airport is one of the major airports in Europe and one of the most frequently used in northern Germany. Just last month October 2023, it has set the new record of 1.45 Million passengers traveling in a month. It is a hub to various popular International Airlines.
On the evening of 4th of November 2023, a 35 year old armed man held his own 4 year old daughter as hostage in a car. And drove this car onto the runway of Hamburg Airport. The police is in contact with the man and trying to defuse the situation. The well-being of the 4 year old girl is the most important concern at the moment. According to the media source, the man took his daughter over a custody dispute with his wife. After the negotiations for several hours the situation is still the same and the airport remain close for the passengers.
Passengers who had already boarded their flight last evening were evacuated. All incoming flights were diverted to nearby cities e.g. Bremen and Hanover. Passengers who had their flight on 5th of November are informed not to come to the airport and keep in contact with respective airlines.
A few months ago a group of young generation climate activists cut off the runway fence and ran off on the runway of Hamburg Airport.
