The idea of selling something which you don’t need any longer, is smart and benefiting for everyone.

Germany is a nation which appreciates re-usability. It is normal to buy secondhand clothes from ebay etc. for your newborn baby. The idea of selling something which you don’t need any longer, is smart and benefiting for everyone. It can be a source of meeting new people as well. Selling online can be a task that needs some effort, you need good pictures and have to write accurate descriptions and condition etc.

But Germany has a better alternative, Flea Market or Flohmarkt. You will find many flea markets throughout the year specially in summers. It’s a very rich and wise tradition. Some flea markets are state organised and sponsored. In such markets one purchase place for their stalls. State organised markets usually locate at city-center or public places. You can buy from kitchen utensils, toys, clothes, tools, antiques, jewellery, and anything you can imagine. Flea markets don’t just offer goods but also homemade food sometimes, people also bring fresh fruits, juices or other homemade items. Other participants keep the people entertained with their music & Performances. It almost feels like a festival.

Flea markets which are not state organised are organised by people living in same neighbourhood. You might see posters or flyers in your street about a flea market which is taking place nearby soon. Such flea markets are the sweetest. People organise the items they want to sell inside their gardens or sometimes in front of their doors. You can always bargain and chit chat. You will find the most diverse items in such places. Sometime people offer you coffee or food for entertainment with some background music. The most amazing experience is when people let you know all the flaws of the items they are selling if any. If you want to organise a small flea market by yourself, you can simply inform the neighbours nearby and people will show up. Sometimes a date is set by the whole neighbourhood and people will display items in their yards. You can go house by house and check the items. It is recommended to bring your own shopping bags or trolley. As far as payment method is concerns 99% of the time people prefer cash but some people also accept Paypal.
