  • There are many Softwares that are offered free of license for students only. For this you can also check you university portal.
  • For International students, there are Student Association groups on facebook created by their seniors to help them.
  • You can also ask your University or Institute for a study buddy who helps you with all your initial process and can even receive you.
  • For Accommodation, you might have to wait for some months to get a place in student dorms. So you should apply accordingly, prior to your planned arrival.
  • You can also try private apartments or WG shared with other fellow students.

Legalities:

  • Students are allowed to work 20 hours per week.
  • After your arrival register yourself at Rathaus.
  • You will receive a letter from German Immigration Office to extend your visa. Save the appointment and be on time. If you don't receive such letter then you can write to the Immigration Office assign to your district by yourself for an appointment for Visa extension.
  • In case of block account in bank, you need to take your city registration certificate with you to unblock it.
  • Sometimes you might find the starting and settling down little hard, but its all NORMAL and there is cultural shock, thinking you cannot survive. But once you start to get a little use to of it you will definitely love Hamburg.
