HVV has collected thousands of euros from fining the passengers who were traveling with either invalid or no ticket all at.

Intercity trains are spread across all over germany. Although smaller cities don’t have subways but have local bus network as core transportation. As subways can be faster and efficient means of transportation, in big cities they aren’t very cheap either up until this year when a 49 Euro ticket was introduced. The Deutschland Karte or the 49 Euro ticket allows you to travel across Germany and in some exceptional cases few stops across the border as well. As good as it sounds it also comes with some rules, with Deutschland Karte you can only use intercity transportation or regional trains only. So if you plan a trip from Hamburg to Munich it can take upto 20 hours with around 7 to 8 connections on the way. Many use the same ticket for intercity trains, people who had the HVV subscriptions were automatically converted to the Deutschland Karte and charges were also reduced.

If you are a regular traveler and use subway as means of travel you might have already observed that from 6 until 9 in the morning is a rush period. During these periods although trains are more frequent but also more crowded than later time of the day. The evening Rush hours are from 16 to 18, in these hours passengers are not allowed to travel alongside with their bikes. It is forbidden to bring bikes on trains during rush hours. If you travel with bike often, it might interest you that you are not allowed to ride the bike once you are on the platform. You must walk alongside your bike.

Other than bikers, there are people traveling with baby buggies, or people who are disabled, for such passengers there is a special section on every platform which is normally higher than the platform and is same at height as the train entrance, which helps them to enter the train easily. In Hamburg HVV is now making all subway stops barrier-free which means each subway station will have a lift to reach platform. Which can be sometimes temporarily inconvenient due to the construction and the non-availability of the subway station for public. But it’s a good initiative to help everyone.

But not everyone is using the subway with valid tickets. During COVID times HVV has caught countless passengers traveling in without a valid ticket or without a ticket. HVV has collected thousands of euros from fining the passengers who were traveling with either invalid or no ticket all at. The fining system fines you double or more if the offence isn’t the first time. On the other hand people who have proper subscriptions enjoy taking friends or guests along with them free of charge on weekends and on public holidays.
